Police: Home Tutor Stole Jewelry

Bonni Blier, 36, was arrested on Tuesday.

A Ronkonkoma woman working as a home tutor for special needs children was arrested Tuesday in connection with several incidents in which jewelry was stolen from the homes where she was tutoring, police said. 

Beginning on Jan. 3, police received several reports of stolen jewelry in the Hauppauge area. Fourth Squad detectives conducted an investigation into the thefts and on Tuesday, they arrested Bonni Blier, 36, and charged her with two counts of third degree criminal possession of stolen property, one count of criminal possession of stolen property and one count of petty larceny.

Blier is a special education tutor who was providing in-home tutoring for children in the victims’ homes where the jewelry was stolen, police said.

Blier was being held at the Fourth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday. 

This investigation is continuing and Fourth Precinct detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 631-854-8446.
