Police Report March 29 - April 4: Prostitution, $50,000 Stolen Via State Sales Tax

Weekly police blotter of crime activity in Hauppauge from the Suffolk Police Public Information Office.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests:

Taryn Carr, 21, of Las Vegas, was arrested April 4 at 3:46 p.m. in Hauppauge for prostitution and possession of a controlled substance. Police said Carr offered to perform sexual acts for a fee to an undercover police officer. When the police arrested Carr, she was in possession of an illegal substance, according to police reports.

Jose Reyes, 25, of Brentwood, was arrested April 3 in Hauppauge for grand larceny. Police said Reyes was seen at 170 Adams Avenue in Hauppauge where he entered a locked fence with another unidentified male and took stainless steel.

Steven Scali, 40, of Smithtown, was arrested in Hauppauge for grand larceny in excess of $50,000. Police said Scali stole more than $50,000 from New York State by failing to remit sales tax revenue. Scali stole the money from Dec. 1, 2004 to May 31, 2009, according to reports. He was arrested March 29 at 8 a.m.

Michael Kilbride, 60, of Salem, Mass., was arrested in Hauppauge on March 29 for criminal possession of stolen goods. Kilbride failed to pay for a fence repair project at Bayshore High School, according to police reports.

Michael Poverelli, 33, of Commack, was arrested in Hauppauge on March 30 for criminal contempt at 9:25 a.m. Police would not comment on the arrest other then it was a domestic dispute.

Dawn Kelly, 43, of Selden, was arrested in Hauppauge on April 2 for criminal contempt. Police would not comment on the arrest except that it was a domestic disturbance.

George Schumacher, 41, of Farmingville, was arrested in Hauppauge on April 1 for criminal intent to damage property. Police said Schumacher damaged the side window of a car with his fist.
