Police Report: Prostitution, Seven Carat Diamond Stolen

Weekly police blotter of crime activity in Hauppauge from the Suffolk Police Public Information Office.

The following information is taken from the Suffolk County Police Department's Media Incident list for the Fourth Precinct. The following individuals are not convicted of a crime, but have been arrested on the charges. Defendants are considered innocent until convicted or proven guilty. These are the arrested and incidents from Feb. 8 – Feb. 14.

Arrests:

Matthew Manz, 21, of Setauket, was arrested Feb. 10 at 9:22 a.m. in Hauppauge for operating a motor vehicle and fleeing the scene. Police said Manz was driving a 2000 BMW when he collided with a 2006 Honda, causing damage to the bumper. Manz tried to flee the scene, but was later arrested.

Gustavo Rodriguez, 22, of Islip, was arrested Feb. 11 in Hauppauge for driving while intoxicated. Rodriguez was driving his 1992 Honda when he struck a parked vehicle in a parking lot, accordign to police reports. After attempting to flee the scene, police said Rodriguez where he confessed to drinking when arrested.

Jonathan Guerrin, 26, of St. James, was arrested in Hauppauge Feb. 11 for criminal possession of marijuana. Police said they spotted Guerrin standing by his 1999 Mercury with a clear plastic bag. Upon further investigation, police allege the bag contained remnants of marijuana.

Vivian Ramos, 32, of Weymouth, was arrested in Hauppauge on Feb.8 for prostitution. Police said Ramos was caught trying to engage in a sexual act for a fee and was arrested at 2 p.m.

Luis Santiago, 26, of Central Islip, was arrested in Hauppauge Feb. 9 for possessing a forged instrument. Police said on Jan. 7 Santiago possessed a forged Arkansas license plate and sold it for cash.

Michael Saunders, 37, from Brooklyn, was arrested in Hauppauge on Feb. 8 at 5:50 p.m. for possession of a forged instrument. Police said Saunders was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition when he was pulled over. When the officer asked for Saunders' insurance card, police allege he provided a fake Geico insurance card with details of his vehicle. 

Christina Fry, 31, from Ronkonkoma, was arrested in Hauppauge on Feb. 8 for grand larceny. Police said Fry stole a seven carat diamond and an unspecified amount of cash from an unknown victim.
