Police Report: Welfare Fraud, Drug Possession

Weekly police blotter of crime activity in Hauppauge from the Suffolk Police Public Information Office.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests:

Dianne Charmack, 59, of Rocky Point, was arrested April 18 in Hauppauge for welfare fraud. Police said from Charmack had obtained Medicaid benefits while failing to report financial status from April 2005 to May 2006 and August 2006 to August 2007.

Michael Dunphy, 50, of Hauppauge, was arrested April 18 in Hauppauge for criminal contempt. Dunphy was arrested at 8:01 p.m. after police were called in for a domestic dispute, according to police reports. Police would not comment any further.

John Frage, 36, of Seaford, was arrested at 4:33 p.m. in Hauppauge on April 16 for criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Frage was arrested after being observed in apparent drug activity. Frage also possessed drugs at the time of his arrest, according to police reports.

Rosa Medero, 38, of Central Islip, was arrested in Hauppauge on April 15 at 5 a.m. for assault. Police said Medero stabbed a man, leaving a large laceration on his back side.

Kenneth Peeters, 37, of Brentwood, was arrested in Hauppauge April 15 for insurance fraud. Police said from March 10, 2008 to Nov. 22, 2009 Peeters was employed and receiving wages while also collecting unemployment insurance.

Martiza Cruz, 38, of Brentwood, was arrested in Hauppauge April 12 for driving a motor vehicle without a license. Police said Cruz was arrested at 2:45 p.m. after being involved in an accident. At the accident scene, Police determined that Cruz was driving without a license.
