Cops Searching for Missing Teen

Suffolk County Police have issued a “Silver Alert” for a missing teen.

Fifteen-year-old Lindsey Mattern of Bay Shore was last seen at her home on June 9 at 10 p.m. At 4 p.m. on June 25, she texted a detective and said that she was suicidal.

She is described as a white female with hazel eyes and long brown hair. She is approximately 120 pounds, stands at around 5 feet tall and has a mole on her upper lip. Police say she may be suicidal.

Third Squad detectives are asking anyone with information to call (631) 854-8352 or to call 911.

Silver Alert is a Suffolk County program that allows local law enforcement to disperse information about missing people with special needs to media outlets.

She's been missing since June 9 and we're first hearing about it on June 25th? WTH? Why isn't this an Amber Alert. There are no "special needs" mentioned in the article. The threat of suicide changes it from Amber to Silver? She's still a child.
