Two Assaults, Welfare Fraud Top Police Arrests

A police blotter of crime activity in Hauppauge from the Suffolk Police Public Information Office.

The following information is taken from the Suffolk County Police Department's Media Incident list for the Fourth Precinct. The following individuals are not convicted of a crime, but have been arrested on the charges. Defendants are considered innocent until convicted or proven guilty. These are the arrested and incidents from Jan. 11 – Jan. 17.

Arrests:

Ryan Duval, 21, of Hauppauge, was arrested Jan. 16 in Hauppauge for aggravated driving while intoxicated. Police said Duval was driving a 1996 Dodge when he got into an accident. Once police arrived on the scene, they determined Duval was intoxicated. Duval left the scene and failed to show his license, according to police. Records show Duval also had a previous DWI conviction.

Jonathon Nauth, 23, of Patchogue, was arrested Jan. 15 in Hauppauge for assault with intent to cause physical harm. Nauth was inside Silk's nightclub, off Nesconset Highway, when he struck a victim in the face with his fist, according to police reports. Police said the victim needed medical treatment.

David Santana, 28, of Centereach, was arrested in Hauppauge Jan. 11 for welfare fraud. Police said Santana was arrested at 2 p.m. after he reportedly submitted false information to Social Services about his working hours. He obtained childcare benefits as well using falsified information, according to police.

Richard Wombley, 51, of Brookhaven, was arrested in Hauppauge Jan. 11 for assault with intent to cause physical harm. Police said Wombley punched a male victim in the face back in November. The incident happened on Hawkins Road in Selden. Wombley was arrested two months later at 1:47 a.m.

Sam Matthews, 21, of Lake Grove, was arrested in Hauppauge Jan. 11 for operating a motor vehicle without a license. Matthews was driving a 2010 Toyota westbund on Nesconset Highway when he was pulled over, according to police reports. Police said they found Matthews was driving with a suspended license.

Christopher Miller, 18, of Hauppauge, was arrested in Lake Grove on Jan. 15 for petit larceny. Police said Miller was shopping at the Smithaven Mall when he stole clothing and accessories from JC Penny.
