Two Phones Stolen From ZComm Premium Wireless Store

ZComm manager alleges two black men stole phones worth $1,100 and did $1,300 in damages to the store.

Two men allegedly stole phones from Hauppauge's on Route 111 on May 14, according to Suffolk County police reports.

Suffolk police said they received a call from the ZComm store  manager at roughly 11 p.m on May 14 claiming that two African-American men entered the store and stole two phones from the Apple display wall.

Pavit Lamba, a Verizon Wireless sales representative, said the two men came into the ZComm store in the morning, but didn’t speak to anyone or buy anything. The men returned later the same day and said they were just browsing, according to Lamba.

When the store manager began helping another customer, she allegedly heard the sounds of a wire being cut. The manager ran over but was pushed back by the one of the two unidentified men who yelled at her, “you stay right there,” according to Lamba.

Lamba said the men cut the phones free from the Apple display case and ran. The store has suspended the phones by reporting them as stolen, rendering the phones unusable at any Verizon store.

According to police reports, each stolen phone costs $550. Lamba said the robbers also broke the display case, costing the store $1,300 in damages.
