It's Election Day. Time to exercise your civic right and responsibility by heading out to cast your vote at the polls for elected representatives. Before you head out to the polls, here's five things you need to know on voting and the local races.
1. Hauppauge students have the day off from classes as Superintendent's Conference day.
2. Many of Hauppauge's school buildings will be used as public polling places. The polls open are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Click here to find your local polling place.
3. Brief yourself on the candidates by reading over our as Republican incumbents Robert Creighton and Edward Wehrheim face off against Democratic challengers Howard Knispel and Teressa Haft for town council. In the Town of Islip, faces Republican challenger while Democratic incumbent joins withagainst Republicans in the race for the town board.
4. Check Patch at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. as we take a poll of who you are voting for at the polls and why. Share with us your reason for getting out to vote.
