80 Pints of Blood Donated During Hauppauge Drive

More than 100 people came out to the Fourth Annual Bloodfest event.

More than 100 people came out Wednesday to take part in the Fourth Annual Bloodfest, a blood and food donation drive, put on by Legis. John M. Kennedy, Jr.

Residents donated 80 pints of blood during the event, which was put on in conjunction with Long Island Cares and Long Island Blood Services.

In addition to the blood donations, a large amount of food and monetary donations were collected for Long Island Cares, founded by Harry Chapin, supporting food pantries throughout Long Island.

Any person, who donated blood or food, will receive free New York Mets tickets in the mail for an upcoming game as well as the chance to win Super Bowl tickets to this year’s game.

The event's entertainment was provided by the IT Band, a local group who put on a free concert featuring classic rock songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s while residents enjoyed barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs, along with other donations from Costco, Shop Rite, Subway, Target, and Trader Joe’s.
