Bomb Threat Evacuates Suffolk Dept. of Social Services

Suffolk police dismiss threat after search and allow county employees to return to work.

A bomb threat made against a Hauppauge government building Wednesday morning has been given the all clear by Suffolk County Police. 

Police said they received a 911 call from a male caller at 9:50 a.m. reporting a bomb threat at the in Hauppauge and Islip Town Hall. 

Suffolk County employees were evacuated from the Social Services building on Wireless Boulevard in the Hauppauge Industrial Park while officers searched the area, police said. An item was found outside the building on Wireless Road during the search, but police determined it was not a threat.

A nearby private business on Wireless Road was also evacuated during the search. 

Police have given the all clear allowing county and private employees to return back inside the buildings. No arrest has been made but police say the investigation is ongoing.
