Islip Town Council Race Now In Need of Democrats

Published reports say Ken Mangan and Dafny Irizarry have removed themselves as candidates, citing work responsibilities.

Republicans Steve Flotteron and Trish Bergin Weichbrodt are running for re-election this fall for their seats on the Islip Town Council. Who their opponents will be is now unknown.

Newsday reported that Ken Mangan of Sayville and Dafny Irizarry of East Islip have backed out of the race citing increasing work commitments.

Several names including Astrid Fidelia of Islip, former Islip Democratic Party Chairman Ivan Young and Deborah Slinkosky are being floated as possible replacement candidates.
