King Kullen Zoning Code Change Request Gets Public Hearing Date
The town board voted unanimously to approve a public hearing to consider King Kullen Grocery Co.’s request to amend the zoning code and map of the town from R-10, or 10,000 square foot residential or single-family, to Central Business District, on the east-side property of Washington Avenue, north of Third Street in St. James. The hearing will take place at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center, located at 420 Middle Country Road in Smithtown on June 23 at 7 p.m.
Run Permits Granted
Second readings were heard for the Smithtown Christian School Run/Walk to be held on July 9, the Wood Park Primary School Annual Fitness Walk to be held on June 2, and the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce Kings Park Day, to be held on June 18. The town board approved permits for each of the events.
Employee Appointments and Continuation of Services
Scott J. Bottner and Lauren Biggane were appointed to the Youth Advisory Board for a term set to last from May 27 to Dec. 31, 2013 at the Thursday night town board meeting. The town board also voted to continue the use of services from Germano & Cahill to represent the town on solid waste matters for the inter-municipal agreement between Smithtown and the Town of Huntington, and the services of Covanta for the Resource Recovery Facility.
Upcoming Town Meetings
The lone meeting for the first week of June is the planning board meeting, which will take place on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center, located at 420 Middle Country Road in Smithtown.
