Smithtown Officials to Hear Public on Proposed Hess, Firearms

Smithtown Town Council will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Eugene Cannataro Senior Center on Middle Country Road.

Town of Smithtown residents have the chance for their opinions to be heard on two controversial proposals at Smithtown Town Board's Thursday meeting.

Smithtown Town officials will hold a controversial public hearingsat their 7 p.m.  Thursday meeting at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center at 420 East Main Street regarding a local gas station.

In Commack, there's a proposal to open a. The business would replace the former Shell gas station, which has become an eyesore and drawn attention for its blighted appearance.

The public hearing on Santilli Commercial Developer's plans to build a sports complex over its sand mines previously scheduled for Feb. 23 has been postpond at the request of the developers.  

Other matters on the Smithtown Town Board agenda include approvals for various annual parades, events and a public hearing on changes to the town code's exemptions under "Firearms."
