Summer Camp Jobs Available Through Islip Town

Cap instructors, counselors park attendants and more are needed.

Islip Town is now accepting applications for summer camp jobs with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.

All employees must be 16 years of age by June 23, 2013. All 16 and 17 year olds must provide their working card prior to being officially hired.

Employees are expected to work from the week of June 24 through camp closure in August. Failure to work assigned days will result in the employee not being asked to return in future summers.

Kayak Camp Instructor

Instructor will function as instructor for Town’s Kayak Camp. American Canoe Association certification preferred, experience required. CPR and AED training required.

Sailing Instructor

Instructor will teach a variety of sailing camps ranging from beginner to advanced skill levels. Experience in sailing with a club, experience teaching sailing, and preferably certified as a sailing camp counselor preferred. CPR and AED training required.

Water Safety Instructors

This position requires that you take the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors Course, which is an extensive training, resulting in certification to teach swimming lessons.

Camp Counselors

Employees are responsible for supervising the daily activities of an assigned group of campers.

Clerks

Employee will interface with the public collecting money, keeping records and reconciling on a daily basis. High School Diploma required, math skills, ability to work well with the public and co-workers, have good telephone skills, keep good organized records, and the ability to learn & follow through on daily tasks needed.

Park Attendants

Employee will perform routine maintenance and duties in connection with park, pool or beach activities. Perform routine grounds keeping work including raking, weeding, and picking up litter. Perform routine custodial tasks.
