Summer Construction Brings Sidewalks to Townline Road

Continuous sidewalk to be installed from Lincoln Boulevard to Hoffman Lane.

Hauppuage parents who feared their teens walking to school on busy roadways may be able to breath easier next school year.

Construction crews are preparing to create a continuous sidewalk along the north side of Townline Road, spanning from Lincoln Boulevard  east to Hoffman Lane. Construction is scheduled to start by June 24, announced Legis. John Kennedy, R-Nesconset.

The nearly one-mile stretch of roadway is extensively traveled by teens who walk to and from nearby Hauppauge Middle School and Hauppauge High School.

The project plans including the installation of concrete sidewalks, replacing the existing curb and sidewalk, with new drainage along Townline Road.

Over the upcoming weeks, residents are warned that construction crews will begin marking out boundaries in preparation for work. The boundaries of the project will be marked by wooden poles with red ribbon or paint on sidewalk areas.

Residents are asked to remove all plants, bushes, shrubs and personal items, like mailboxes or fencing, if they want to keep these items. All items not removed will be cleared by construction and disposed of.

To help with construction, residents are asked to move their vehicles off Townline Road on Mondays to Fridays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
