View Finder: Suffolk Remembers the Korean War and its Veterans

Dozens gathered Friday evening to mark the 61st anniversary of the start of the Korean War.

Suffolk County officials, veterans and residents joined together on Friday evening in remembrance of the Korean War and its veterans.

Suffolk County officials joining with the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency and the Korean War Veterans Central Long Island chapter gathered Friday at 6 p.m. in the Armed Forces Plaza in front of the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge. They held a short ceremony to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the beginning of the Korean war.

There are two monuments within the Armed Forces Plaza dedicated to the Korean War: a statue of a young soldier with a young and an outline of Korea that denotes the major battles and events of the war.
