The American Heart Association recently recognized the Hauppauge School District for its support of the "Go Red for Woman" campaign.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America and is even deadlier than all forms of cancer, according to the Association.
At last week's Board of Education meeting, Eve Pyser, the school site manager of Suffolk County for the Association awarded the district with a red pin for its fundraising efforts.
Pyser presented Joe Tasman, the director of health and physical education, with a new AED (automated external defibrillator) to be held at Hauppauge Middle School.
