Board of Education to Vote on Teachers' Tenure

Hauppauge Board of Education will hold its first June meeting 8 p.m. Tuesday at the former Whiporwil Elementary School.

Hauppauge school officials will be voting on whether to accept certain candidates for tenure on Tuesday evening. 

Hauppauge Board of Education will be holding their first June meeting 8 p.m. Tuesday in the James Baxter Board Room at the former Whiporwil Elementary School. The main issue will be the appointment of teachers' tenure and authorizing temporary summer personnel. 

The board trustees will open the meeting by recognizing students Rylie Conway, as part of the U.S. Ambassador Program, and Amy Henris, a Middle School Monitor, with honors and awards.

The Hauppauge board trustees will hen be asked tovote on awarding tenure to three teachers and three teaching assistants: 

  • Louise Audus, Reading
  • Christopher Dowd, Technology
  • Miriam Schwartz, Second Language
  • Jeffery Almonaitis, teaching assistant
  • Michelle Bernardo, teaching assistant
  • Dana Verelli, teaching assistant

Hauppauge district residents have a chance to ask questions regarding issues on the agenda after the Superintendent's comments, and openly address the board towards the end of the meeting
