Class of 2011: Adam Mildon

Meet Hauppauge's salutatorian for the Class of 2011.

Adam Mildon has earned top honors during his studies at Hauppauge High School, earning the second highest grade point average in the Class of 2011 and the title of salutatorian. Mildon will address his classmates at this Sunday's graduation ceremonies.

In his senior year, Mildon won a $1,000 scholarship from Smithtown Historical Society for winning annual essay writing contest by telling how he would save the St. James General Store.

In addition to his studies, Mildon has served as class treasurer, treasurer of the French Club, the Ignition Club anda member of National Helpers, a peer mentoring group.

He will attend American University in Washington D.C. this fall to study international relations.

Patch caught up with Mildon to ask him a few questions about his years at Hauppauge High School and the future ahead:

Q: "What teachers have inspired you during your high school career?"

Mildon: "Ms. Cono and Madame Rigaud. Ms. Cono teaches AP World History. She developed my intrest in world history and was alway polite."

Mildon said Madame Rigaud teaches French classes at Hauppauge High School.

"She is incredible. I've had her since I was a freshman and she's one of my favorite teachers. She's into the world and travel."

Q: "Why have you chosen to study international relations at American University?"

Mildon: "I love world politics, I love learning about different cultures and I love solving problems, so diplomacy is right up my alley."

Q: "What advice do you have for the Class of 2012, this year's juniors?"

Mildon: "Make sure you don't get consumed by stress."
