DECA Club Wins 23 Regional Awards

Hauppauge's business club success at regional competition leads to states.

Hauppauge's DECA club's success at the Suffolk County regionals is paving the way to states.

The 35 members of Hauppauge High School's DECA club competed in regional competitions at Brentwood's Suffolk County Community College on Wednesday in a variety of marketing themed events. By day's end, 23 of the 35 students won awards in their category led by advisor Frank Hufnagel, advancing to the state competition in March.

DECA is an association of marketing students studying career and business related hours as part of an afterschool, co-curricular group. It has maintained a membership of more than 100 students at Hauppauge High School for several years, according to the club's website.
