Employee Benefits, District Capital Under Budget Review

Hauppauge Board of Education will host a budget workshop 8 p.m. Tuesday at the former Whiporwhil Elementary School.

Hauppauge residents have the chance to learn and share their opinions on employee benefits and the district's capital on Tuesday night. 

Hauppauge Board of Education will hold a budget workshop 8 p.m. Tuesday in the James Baxter Board Room at the former Whiporwhil Elementary School. Topics of discussion include employee benefits, undistributed funds and the district's capital. 

Superintendent Patricia Sullivan-Kriss presented, a $1,378,439 budget-to-budget increase, or 1.42 percent. The draft budget calls for the hiring of five full-time special education teachers, resulting in the letting go of 16 teaching assistants, and the purchase of two minibuses and a maintenance van for the district's aging fleet.
