Hauppauge Among Newsweek's Top High Schools

Hauppauge is ranked within the top 1,000 American High Schools by Newsweek.


Hauppauge High School been ranked in Newsweek's America's Best High Schools in 2012.

Ranking the top 1,000 high schools in the nation,came in 555.

Schools are ranked as the ones "that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads." Six components provided by school administrators make up the rankings: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student(5 percent).

Hauppauge' graduation rate was 97 percent, with 95 percent of graduates being college bound. The average AP test score is a 3, with an average ACT score of 23.9 and average SAT score of 1549. 

The neighboring Commack School District was ranked at 267 while Smithtown West ranked 329, Kings Park School District earned a rank of 652,  and Smithtown East received a 704.
