Hauppauge Girls Basketball Wins Hampton Bays Tournament

Hauppauge girls varsity basketball team came home with a win from a Hampton Bays tournament this Saturday.

Hauppauge girls basketball team beat out the hosting Hampton Bays, 60-32, to claim a victory in the finals on Dec. 10. The four-team tournament provided the team with a pre-season competition against Hampton Bays, Eastport-South Manor and Pierson.

27 East reports the Lady Eagles, scheduled to compete in League IV, beat their first-round opponents Eastport-South Manor High School by score of 54 to 36.

The Lady Eagles basketball team had a historic season last year with an overall league record of 14-6, leading to their first post-season playoff run in 14 years.

The team only graduated one senior, Alyssa Handler, in 2011 and will return with an experienced squad. Hauppauge will kick off its 2011-2012 season on Dec. 20 by hosting Half Hollow Hills West at 6 p.m.
