Hauppauge School Board Member Leaving Seat

Patricia Lesser announced that she will be leaving her position as a trustee on the Hauppauge Board of Education during a school board meeting Tuesday night.

The move is bittersweet for Lesser, who said that she will be getting married in August and no longer living in the Hauppauge School District, which is why she will have to leave the board.

Lesser said that it is with a heavy heart that she will be leaving Hauppauge. "I will miss it very much," she said.

The district's attorney said that the school board will have two options for filling the position. The first would be to appoint a community member to take over the seat until the next trustee election. The second option would be to hold a special election, in which the winning candidate will fulfill the position for the balance of the term.
