Hauppauge School District Now on Facebook

The administration will use the social media outlet to disseminate information to the community.

The Hauppauge School District is now on Facebook.

The Hauppauge Public School District Facebook page went live on Jan. 8 and currently has 300 fans.

"This is our vehicle to put more information out to the community," Superintendent Patricia Sullivan-Kriss said at a Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.

Posted on the Facebook page will be school events, classroom activities, announcements, photo galleries and videos.

"As always, we see the value of technology in further connecting to the Hauppauge community and in providing clear insight and information into all of the learning activities that occur. We also wish to share the excellent work that our student body and staff perform inside and outside of school. this is the first step in our mission toward embracing the benefits of social media applications and we look forward to sharing this journey with you," school officials said in a press release.

The Facebook page will be run by Joe Salina, the district's director of public relations.
