Hauppauge school officials will hold a dedication ceremony before honoring a group of students Tuesday night.
Hauppauge Board of Education will attend the 7 p.m. dedication of the Hauppauge Middle School's music wing before honoring student scholarship winners at their 8 p.m. meeting at the former Whiporwhil Elementary School.
The new music wing of Hauppauge Middle School will be formally dedicated at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night. There will be a short ceremony for the newly built wing, which will be named after a former music director and teacher Joseph R. Herbison. Herbison taught music in Hauppauge Schools for more than 30 years.
Following the dedication ceremony, Hauppauge Board of Education will hold a public meeting at the Hauppauge Administrative Offices, or former Whiporwil Elementary school.
Their agenda for the evening involves recognizing the Smithtown Historical Society scholarship winner and presenting the HTA Friends of Education award. Other topics will include a presentation on the fund balance and tax levy, as board members will vote on approval of the 2012-13 tax levy later that evening.
