Hauppauge Students and Legis. Kennedy Honor Injured Soldier

Forest Brook students help raise funds to build US Marine Corps Corporal Greg Caron a home.

Legis. John M. Kennedy, Jr., Minority Leader of the Suffolk County Legislature joined with Forest Brook Elementary School in Hauppauge, in honoring United States Marine Corps Corporal Greg Caron, in a ceremony held June 9.

Caron was injured in the line of duty while serving in Afghanistan searching known Taliban compounds. Caron lost both of his legs and the use of his right arm when an IED exploded while he was patrolling compounds in Afghanistan.

As part of the Homes for Heroes program, homes are built from the ground up or existing homes are modified to meet the needs of the brave men and women who have served the United States.

“I cannot applaud Forest Brook and Homes for Heroes enough for their efforts in supporting and recognizing Corporal Caron, who gave so much in defense of our nation and in protecting our way of life.  The students, teachers and administrators of Forest Brook have set a wonderful example for other schools to follow,” Kennedy said.
