Marching Band Performs At Hofstra University
Schools meet at at Hofstra University for the 48th annual Newsday Marching Band Festival
Hauppauge Eagles marching band performed at the 48th annual Newsday Marching Band Festival Tuesday.
Every year high schools from all over Suffolk and Nassau Counties make their way to the Marching Band Festival at Hofstra University to show off musical routines, flag twirling and cheerleading routines. An annual tradition sponsored by Newsday, the event draws crowds in the hundreds of family, friends and those who out for a good time.
The chilly weather on a Tuesday didn't stop the students from kicking off the first night of a three-day event with a bang. The United States Marine Band performed first with the precise discipline one would expect to be heard from the military.

Hauppauge Marching Band was the 14th scheduled performance of the night, rounding out the end of the evening. Their performance followed their Suffolk teams Harborfields and Elwood/John Glenn.
As the night drew closer to an end, the spirit certainly did not dwindle from the crowd. Proud parents continued to scream at the top of their lungs to be heard by the students. Schools filed on and off the field like clockwork, giving each their moment in the spotlight. As each young musician passed by, it was clear from the smile on their face that to them it was a job well done!
