New Assistant Superintendent Coming to Hauppauge Schools

Glen Eschbach to take over as assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and technology in July 2012.

There is a fresh face coming to Hauppauge school district's administrative team for the 2012-13 school year. 

Hauppauge Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Glen Eschbach to take over for Kyrie Siegel, the current assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and technology, in June 2012 at their April 3 board meeting.

Superintendent Patricia Sullivan-Kriss said Siegel, who was absent April 3, had submitted her letter of resignation to the district earlier this school year. The school district advertised the job opening in The New York Times and received 80 applications.

"There are a lot of professionals out there interested in becoming part of our staff and working with us as we continue to move our program forward," Sullivan-Kriss said. 

Eschbach is currently the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction at Bayport-Bluepoint School District, where he has served for five years. He has previously worked as a building pricipal for five years, and assistant principal for three years for total of 13 years experience in school administration. Eschbach was also a special education teacher.

"He has had personal experience with a lot of things we are currently involved in: the common core, use of student date. and how to move that forward. The list is endless," the superintendent said. 

Hauppauge school district will pay Eschbach a salary of $170,000 annually as of July 1, according to a personnel action report handed out at the April 3 board meeting. He will be paid $10,000 per year more than Siegel, whose contractual salary is $160,000 for the 2011-12 school year as per contract signed June 21, 2011 on the district's website.
