Nov. 1: PTA, iPhones and Polling Places

November starts with a range of school and government activities.

November arrives in a whirlwind of school activity, learning as Election Day looms tomorrow. Show your support for Pines Elementary school by wearing their colors proudly, or learn how to operate that new smart phone you have. Patch will be providing more information on tomorrow's elections, so be sure to check back throughout the day.

1. Pines Elementary PTA starts its Apparel Sale today, selling all different types of clothing in school colors and logos to help show school pride. The sale runs through Friday.

2. Hauppauge Public Library will give residents a walk-through to "Understanding Smart Phones" at 7 p.m. Learn how to better work your new iPhone, Droid, or Blackberry along with the features they offer, accessibility and more.

3. On the eve of Election Day, The League of Women Voters in Smithtown will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Town residents may attend to speak about issues of concern at the meeting, or attend to become more politically active. It's never too late to become engaged in your community.

4. Patch will continue its running election coverage with a "Voters Guide To Polling Places" later this afternoon. The guide will have information on where to cast your vote and instructions to the new machines.
