Question: How Should School Officials Spend $40K?

Tell us what you feel needs to be fixed up, renovated or repaired in Hauppauge public schools.

Hauppauge Superintendent Patricia Sullivan-Kriss announced the district has received more than $40,000 in state aid.

Sullivan-Kriss said Hauppauge school officials were given $40,625 in unrestricted state aid through state Sen. Lee Zeldin, R-Shirley. The money can be used for any legitimate educational purpose, including technology and materials.

"This hasn’t happened in years, " Sullivan-Kriss said.

Zeldin suggested that a portion of the funds be used to fund a day at the state capital for students in one grade level, according to the superintendent.

With the remaining funds, Sullivan-Kriss said it could be used to take care of projects not covered under the recent . The superintendent mentioned the home and career rooms at Hauppauge Middle School, and second guessed whether there might be enough funds to replace the middle school track.
