School Board Hosts Property Tax Cap Discussion

Hauppauge Board of Education begins to publicly address factors that will influence the 2012-2013 budget with special presentation.

Hauppauge Public School officials and trustees plan to discuss New York State's new 2 percent property tax cap at their board meeting on Tuesday.

Hauppauge Board of Education members have invited Gary Bixhorn, the chief operating officer of Eastern Suffolk BOCES, to discuss the at 8 p.m. at the former Whiporwhil Elementary School. Superintendent Patricia Sullivan-Kriss will speak about how the tax cap will generally affect the district as it draws up its 2012-2013 budget.

After the presentation, district residents will have an opportunity to ask questions about New York State's new 2 percent tax cap and its potential impact.

Other matters on the board of education's agenda include recognizing the top 10 students in the Class of 2012 and National Merit Commended Students.
