School District Cancels Friday Night, Saturday Activities
Winter storm Nemo is expected to blanket the region in snow.
The Hauppauge School District on Friday said it will suspend school activities Friday afternoon, evening and into Saturday as winter storm Nemo threatens the area with power outages and snow-covered road.
"Due to the weather forecast for today and this weekend, all afternoon and evening after-school activities have been canceled," the district posted on its Facbook page. "Additionally, all activities tomorrow (Saturday, February 9th) have been canceled. The regular school day, though, will end at its usual time today."
The move follows nearby Smithtown school district, which also canceled Friday and Saturday activities.
