In addition to the budget presentation, board members will be voting on a new contract between the district and the Hauppauge Teachers Association. The district's teachers have been working without a contract since June 30, 2011.

One major issue of contention between the district and teacher's association has the implementation of the Annual Professional Performance Review. After months of negotiations failed to reach a compromise, the Hauppauge Teachers Association and school officials sought mediation services in December 2011.
