Storm Threat Causes Hauppauge Public Schools to Close

School district issues hurricane-related announcement that it will close Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.

Hauppauge school officials made the decision to cancel classes due to the potential threat of Hurricane Sandy. All Hauppauge Public Schools will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. 

School officials issued the following announcement on Sunday evening: 

Due to the incoming hurricane, all Hauppauge schools will be closed on both Monday, October 29th and Tuesday, October 30th.

The announcement was posted late Sunday evening on the district's website. 

Both Adelphi University in Hauppauge and Stony Brook University have also announced they they have cancelled classes on Monday ahead of Hurricane Sandy's expected arrival.

Other closures in the area include Hauppauge Public Library closing for both Monday and Tuesday in expectation of the storm.
