Transportation Study to be Unveiled at School Budget Workshop

Hauppauge school districts will publicly discuss the results of a transportation analysis to discuss bus routes, etc.

Hauppauge school officials will unveil the results of a district transportation study at the 2012-13 budget workshop on Tuesday night. 

Hauppauge Board of Education will hold their third budget presentation/workshop in the James Baxter Board Room at the former Whiporwhil Elementary School at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Residents are invited to attend to learn the results of the district's transportation study and discusss instruction. 

Superintendent Patricia Sullivan-Kriss presented , a $1,378,439 budget-to-budget increase, or 1.42 percent. The draft budget calls for the hiring of five full-time special education teachers, resulting in the letting go of 16 teaching assistants, and the purchase of two minibuses and a maintenance van for the district's aging fleet. 

On Tuesday night, school administrators will present the budget for general support and instructional areas. One major instructional change happening at Hauppauge High School will be the implementation of the International Baccalaureate diploma, as the .
