Vacant BOE Seat to be Filled Tonight

The Hauppauge school board will announce who will fill the open position Thursday.

The Hauppauge Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday to appoint a community member to the vacant school board seat.

Patricia Lesser announced her resignation during a school board meeting in June. The move is bittersweet for Lesser, who said that she will be getting married in August and no longer living in the Hauppauge School District, which is why she will have to leave the board.

The Board of Education opened the position up to the public. Residents were asked to submit an application including a resume and cover letter to the board.

The BOE will appoint one of those candidates to the school board tonight.

The public portion of the meeting will take place at 8 p.m., at the Whiporwil building.
