Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Staplefeld was awarded third place for the Most Outstanding Reporter from Adelphi University's Press Day/Quill Awards.

Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Staplefeld serves as the co-editor-in-chief of Hauppauge High School's newspaper, The Soaring Eagle. In summer 2010, she was one of 18 Long Island high school students who attended the Robert Greene High School Journalism Institute at Stony Brook University. The program introduced students to the basics of news reporting, working in a newsroom and provided an opportunity to produce multimedia articles.
