Wizards Give the Crowd Hoops and Alley Oops at Hauppauge High School

The Harlem Wizards came to town Saturday night for a fundraising benefit at Hauppauge High School.

It's not too often you see the superintendent of a Long Island High School take on some super basketball players in a game refereed by a county legislator, but if you were at the Hauppauge High School gymnasium Saturday night, that's exactly what you saw.

The Harlem Wizards trotted in to town to take on the staff and administrators of Hauppauge schools in a game of basketball filled with fun, hoops and alley oops arranged by the Forest Brook Elementary PTA.

District superintendent Patricia Sullivan-Kriss along with county Legis. John Kennedy took part in the fun with Kennedy playing referee.

Proceeds from ticket and memorabilia sales went to the Forest Brook Elementary Parent Teacher Association, Hauppauge High School, Kicks for Cancer and the Courtney Sipes Memorial Foundation, which was founded in memory of Courtney Sipes, a Hauppauge student killed while crossing Smithtown’s Main Street by an impaired driver.
