Boys Lax Player Signs To Play at Hofstra

Senior Sam Llinares among the first to be recruited to play attack Division I college lacrosse.

Hofstra University annouced Thursday that Hauppauge senior Sam Llinares was one of the first four players to be recruited to play on their Division I mens lacrosse team in September 2012.

Llinares lead the boys lacrosse team offense as one of its junior captains in 2011. He scored 64 points for the Eagles to become an All-Suffolk County selection. Llinaries has been a member of the varsity squad for four years, scoring 40 points as a freshman and 65 points as a sophomore. Llinares is a five-time Scholar-Athlete award winner.

As a junior, Llinares participated in the Rising Senior game in the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase at Dowling College in 2011. He was also courted for recruitment by Ohio State, Johns Hopkins, Maryland and Notre Dame, according to Hofstra University.
