Eagles Scoreboard: Baseball Team Wins Double Header

Baseball team builds four-game winning streak during spring break.

The Hauppauge baseball and boys lacrosse teams brought home much-needed wins over spring break to stay in the running for the playoffs. 

Here is our weekly breakdown of how Hauppauge's varsity athletic teams have fared in competition over the past week:

Baseball: The Hauppauge boys baseball team improved to 5-1 record by sweeping Huntington in a three-game series last week.

Pitcher C.J. Parietti lead the Eagles to a 6-2 win over the Huntington Blue Devils in the first match of the League V double header on April 18 by throwing a one-hitter with four strikeouts. Hauppauge's bats were hot in the second game as Pitcher C.J. Shildt went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the first inning to help Hauppauge win 8-1 over Huntington.

On April 20, pitcher Joe Policastro only allowed one earned run in seven hits to beat Huntington, 14-5, at home. John Colby went 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

The team will host Deer Park at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Boys Lacrosse: Sophomore Steven Favoroso scored an unassisted goal with 9 seconds remaining to secure a 15-14 victory for Hauppauge over Elwood/John Glenn on April 20.

The win improves the boys lacrosse team's record to 3-4 in Division II. The Eagles will travel to compete against Bayport-Blue Point on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse: Jen Porretto scored four goals and made three assists to lead Hauppauge's offense in a 12-10 victory over Sayville on April 18. The team's offense showed a diversity of talent as six members of the Lady Eagles squad contributed goals to the win.

Hauppauge continues to exert its dominance on the fields with an undefeated 7-0 record in Division II at the midpoint of the season. The team will host Kings Park on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
