Eagles Scoreboard: Girls Soccer Edges Out North Babylon
Eagles football team drops lead to West Babylon as girls volleyball deals with a rocky start to the season.
Football: Dominic Confredo's 90-yard interception return for a touchdown gave the Eagles a 14-3 second-quarter lead, as Hauppauge looked poised to upset West Babylon. However, Reggie Robinson and the West Babylon offense had other plans. Thanks in large part to Robinson's stubborn rushing, West Babylon scored 34 unanswered points to cruise to a 37-14 victory. The Eagles, now at 1-2, will face yet another road test as they travel to Centereach on Oct. 1.
Boys Soccer: West Babylon's Anthony Vasquez scored a late-second half goal to break a scoreless tie, as the Eagles fell 1-0 on Saturday. It was the third game the Eagles have dropped this week, as they also fell on Tuesday, 5-0 to Huntington, and Thursday, 2-0 to Bellport. In both Thursday and Saturday's games, goaltender Robert Castello made seven saves to keep the Eagles within reach.
Girls Soccer: Taylor Ranftle's second-half goal gave the Eagles a narrow 2-1 victory over North Babylon on Wednesday. It was Hauppauge's second win of the week, after they easily dispatched West Babylon, 3-0, on Monday. Stephanie Peragallo scored two of the Eagles' three goals in that contest.
