Eagles Scoreboard: Fall Sports Return

The latest scores from Hauppauge's varsity fall sports teams.

Football: After starting  2011 with a narrow 17-13 victory over Smithtown East, the Eagles took a step back after falling to Riverhead, 45-13, in their home opener. Dominic Confredo’s third quarter 40-yard interception return for a touchdown was the lone highlight for the Eagles, who dropped to 1-1 with the loss. They will travel to West Babylon next week.

Boys Soccer: Brian Betz’s overtime winner gave the Eagles a thrilling 2-1 victory over Eastport/South Manor on Thursday, improving the team’s record to 1-1 after an early season loss at Connetquot. The team begins their League IV schedule on Tuesday when they’ll travel to Huntington.

Girls Soccer: The girls soccer team fell to Smithtown East on the strength of two first-half goals on Thursday to fall to 0-1-1. They previously played Smithtown West to a scoreless tie on Sept. 12, a game in which goalkeeperDiana Paulin made 11 saves. They’ll host West Babylon on Monday afternoon before travelling to North Babylon Wednesday to begin their League IV schedule.

Girls Volleyball:  The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 start after a pair of three-set wins over North and West Babylon. Julie Giray has been a catalyst for the Eagles, as her and Jackie Emig combined for 34 digs in the win over North Babylon. She also had 15 digs in the season opening win.
