A YOGA & ART THERAPY EXPERIENCE: The Woman's Mask

Balance Studio in conjunction with Mor Keshet, MPS, LCAT and Alicia Waitins, RYT-C is proud to announce a special Yoga & Art Therapy
workshop for women. In becoming wives and mothers, women often detach from the pieces of their identity which perhaps no longer 'fit' in
their lives. Contemporary society is traditionally built upon patriarchal archetypes which often define women only in their relation to men.
Women have been socialized to marry, have children, and assume family caretaker roles. But what other roles interest and attract you as a
woman; what other roles are necessary for you to feel like an entire and complete individual?

This workshop is designed for women to take the time to explore the many layers of their identities, and reconnect with the other roles which
define them. Each week, a different archetype will be examined such as: the Earth Mother, the Goddess, the Femme Fatale, the Victim/Maiden,
the Crusader, the Survivor, and the Bad Girl/Rebel. Each 1.5 hour session will begin with a customized yoga experience, helping you connect
with your internal self, and attach with the group forming around you. The yoga portion will be directly followed by an art therapy
experiential, providing you with a unique opportunity to further delve into these rich roles through mask-making. This segment will not only
allow for creative expression, but for group processing, during which you and your fellow participants can share your collective physical,
psychic and emotional experiences. Ultimately, you will have a compilation of masks, revealing the depth of each role represented, showing
you not only what you choose to display to those around you, but what you conceal behind your masks as well. Alicia and Mor will assist you
in exploring how these roles both assist and hinder, what is gained and lost, and perhaps why you have assumed these roles. Role-plays will
be encouraged as well, providing a safe space in which you may 'play' a role which you are not familiar with but have always been curious to
try.
