Hauppauge Junior League Girls Team Takes Soccer Cup

The local girls took home the Eastern New York Upper 90 Cup this month.

The Hauppauge Revolution, which is part of the Long Island Junior Soccer League, won the Eastern New York Upper 90 Cup this season, overcoming the Farmingdale Flesh, 3-2 for the  Girls-Under-15  title.

Last year, the Hauppauge Revolution won the Arch Capital Group Cup.

This year’s winning game was played June 1 at Stringham Park in LaGrange.

Gillian Shelby, Lauren SanFilippo and Rachel Rosansky scored the goals to give Hauppauge the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) championship.

“Our players just did not stop,” commented Hauppauge coach Anthony Tuozzo, said in a press release. “They have been together since Girls-Under-10 and always play hard as a team, always defend as a team.”

Farmingdale received the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award as selected by the game referees. Now retired, Mr. Rubenstein was seemingly involved in every facet of New York soccer for decades and is a member of the Halls of Fame of Eastern New York, the US Amateur Soccer Association and the Long Island Junior Soccer League.
