A Hauppauge senior has received the honor of being named Suffolk's Female Athlete of the Year.
MSG Varsity reports Stephanie Peragallo received the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame's Butch Dellecave Award, given to the best female athlete each year, at a brunch on Sunday afternoon.
Peragallo is a five-year, three-sport varsity athlete at Hauppauge High School. She has played on the varsity girls soccer, volleyball and lacrosse teams. Peragallow helped lead the Lady Eagles' lacrosse team to their first Suffolk County Class B championship in spring 2011, and helped them return to the finals in 2012 with 60 goals and 20 assists.
"She's the most accomplished athlete in my 10 years as the athletic director in Hauppauge," Joe Tasman told MSG Varsity. "She gives a 110 percent effort in everything she does. She's the senior class president, a leader in the school, just a perfect role model in every way."
Peragallo has signed a Letter of Intent to play lacrosse for the University of Notre Dame in the fall. She said she has plans to study pre-med, according to MSG Varsity.
