A Hauppauge High School junior placed second in the 100 yard butterfly and third in the 100 yard freestyle during Saturday's New York State Swimming and Diving Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY.
According to Newsday [subscription required], Justin Plaschka completed the butterfly in 48.92 seconds and the freestyle in 45.86 seconds. The time in his second place finish in the butterfly was 1.5 seconds quicker than his prior personal best.
"I stepped up and I knew that I would have to push it and go all out. Afterwards I looked at my time and I knew it wasn't my best but I was happy with it after what I just did [in the 100 butterfly]," Plaschka told Newsday.
