HYO Football Takes Spotlight On Super Bowl Sunday

Youth football league holds end-of-year awards , promoting awareness of local football year round.

Hauppauge youth football players took the spotlight on Super Bowl Sunday.

Hauppauge Youth Organization Football held its end-of-the-year award ceremony  for players and their families at the Local 25 hall on Sunday morning. Players ages 5 to 11 gathered to accept trophies for their performance and sportsmanship on the fields.

HYO Football's new president Frank Hufnagel, taking over for Gary Wojitas, said the post-season celebration is an attempt to bring the community together in recognition of football, creating a more year-round feeling like many other youth sports - soccer, little league- have become in recent years.
