Lady Eagles Fall in Basketball Quarterfinals

Hauppauge loses to Commack Wednesday night, 53-35.

Hauppauge girls' basketball team fell to Commack Wednesday night at Commack High School in the Suffolk County Class AA playoffs.

According to Newsday, the Lady Eagles fell to the Cougars, 53-35, in the quarterfinal game.

No. 5 seed Commack was led by Erin Storck and Melissa Lobaccaro, who reportedly combined for 14 of the team's 17 fourth quarter points.

Hauppauge, seeded No. 13 out of 20 teams in the tournament, had upset Copaigue a few nights earlier, led by 39 points from Julie Williams. Williams and Carly Tellekamp each scored 14 points Wednesday night.

Commack advances to play No. 1 seed North Babylon Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue.

Last year, Hauppauge made it to the tournament semifinals, falling to Riverhead, 60-52.
