Spotlight: Girls Lacrosse Plays for Class B Title

Hauppauge girls lacrosse team will play Eastport-South Manorville for the Suffolk County Class B championship title at 5:30 p.m. at Dowling College.

Hauppauge girls lacrosse team is preparing to take to the fields to defend their title as Suffolk County's Class B champions Thursday afternoon. 

The Hauppauge Lady Eagles will play against No. 2-ranked Eastport - South Manorville in the finals of the Suffolk County Class B Championship 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dowling College's Sports Complex. 

The Lady Eagles are looking to repeat their 2011 performance when they beat Shoreham-Wading River, 8-5, to win their in the program's 10-year history.

So far, Hauppauge has won the Division II title with a 13-1 record league record, earning it No. 1 ranking moving into the playoffs. The Lady Eagles easily knocked Miller Place out of the competition in the first round with a decisive 15-7 win. However, the team was barely able to squeeze by Harborfields in the semi-finals with a 10-9 win. 

Eastport-South Manorville was the only team to beat Hauppauge during regular league play, beating the Eagles 8-6 on April 25. The Class B titles are the Eagles' change for a rematch.
